At least eighty-two Ghanaians who were stranded in Sudan are expected to be evacuated from Ethiopia to Ghana, an official statement has said.
It follows a successful evacuation of the Ghanaian nationals from Sudan to the Ethiopian border town of Metema.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Tuesday (25 April), called on Ghanaians who are still stranded in Sudan to contact the consulate through the provided telephone number to assist in their evacuation.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to refer to its Press Release of 23 April 2023 and to provide an update to the general public on the evacuation of Ghanaians from the Republic of Sudan”.
“In addition, three Ghanaian footballers and two others working for Australian Mining Company are being evacuated through the Egyptian border post of Wadi Halfa, north of Sudan. This brings to a total of 82 Ghanaian nationals who have been evacuated to safety.,” the statement said.
