The National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has stated that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is only interest in misinforming Ghanaians on the true state of the country’s economic management.
He, therefore, stressed the need for NPP members from polling stations upward, to become canvassers and communicators to help disabuse the minds of the fellow Ghanaians from NDC’s propaganda.
Speaking to journalists in an interview, the NPP National Chairman said the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government must be commended for diligently managing Ghana’s economy.
“Truth is, this government has managed the economy well. The hardships we are experiencing in Ghana are being experienced everywhere because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War. Workers in some of the world’s biggest economies are demanding salary increases due to historic global inflation.
“It is happening in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. In the United Kingdom, I was told a couple of weeks ago that they had to ration vegetables and cooking oil. Can you imagine rationing pepper in Ghana? The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, confirmed the impact of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War on the United States economy and how difficult the effort to rebuild has been,” he added.
Charge
Mr Ntim further charged party members to propagate the enviable achievements of the Akufo-Addo led government on all available platforms to ensure that the party retains power after the 2024 election.
He indicated that despite the difficulties encountered by the country, caused by external factors, the government had managed the affairs of the nation creditably.
He also called on the rank and file of the NPP to rise up and mobilise behind the government to defeat the onslaught of the NDC propaganda.
“This means that all of us in the NPP, from polling stations upward, must become canvassers and communicators to help disabuse the minds of our fellow Ghanaians from the misinformation that the NDC is feeding the nation,” he stated.
He reiterated the urgency of the party’s supporters to fight vigorously against the propaganda by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Commitment
He also stressed the need for commitment in sustaining the fight to keep government in power, adding: “We cannot accept the backsliding that takes place every now and then. It doesn’t benefit our nation.”
He assured the party’s rank and file that the NPP administration can be trusted to lead Ghanaians through the current economic challenges, and secure a better future for them.
He noted that the party under the current leadership is determined to win new seats through effective campaign in the next general elections.
“It is a battle, and we are going back to the people to account for what we have done and to tell them what we have for the people of Ghana. And I’m so sure that based on our track record, the people of Ghana will once again renew our mandate in the 2024 elections,” he stated.
Mr Ntim thanked them for their unflinching support for him and the party over the years, and pledged to continue working very hard to ensure that their regions receive their fair shares of the national cake.
