NPP organises grassroots to reclaim 2020 lost seats

The leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has embarked on a comprehensive grassroots initiative aimed at solidifying the party’s base, as it seeks to break the 8-year governance cycle in the country.
The programme is aimed at building the capacity of grassroots actors and other party apparatchiki in strengthening structures geared at positioning the party to claw back some odd 55 seats.
In the centre of the capacity-building effort are regional and constituency executives, as well as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who will all undergo effective training programmes to facilitate the ‘break the eight’ campaign.
Speaking to party members in the Bono Region, the party’s leadership, led by Henry Nana Boakye, National Organiser, said the strategic move is geared towards ensuring a well-organized, united front capable of delivering the party’s message and agenda to every corner of the nation.
Commitment
Nana B stated the NPP is committed to strengthening the grassroots base, saying that is pivotal in the quest to “break the eight”.
He added that the NPP’s history had been marked by alternating periods in power with another major political party, but this time, they are determined to create a precedent by breaking the pattern.
In attendance were the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe; Bono Regional Organiser, Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah; Mustapha Abdul Salam, National Youth Organiser; Richard Ahiagbah, National Communications Director; Nelson Owusu Ansah, National Training Coordinator; Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Seth Ponku.
Others were Agyeman Manu, MP for Dormaa Central and Health Minister; Ignatius Baffour Awuah, MP for Sunyani West and Minister of Employment and Labour Relations; Alfred Tuah Yeboah, Deputy Attorney General; Kwasi Ameyaw Kyeremeh, MP for Sunyani East and Board chairman for BUI power Authority and all 12 MMDCE’s.
The NPP National Organiser explained that the grassroots initiative includes a comprehensive training programme for regional and constituency executives, equipping them with the skills necessary to engage with voters effectively, address local concerns, and rally support for the party.
Additionally, he said the MMDCEs are being empowered with the resources and knowledge required to drive local development, thereby, showcasing the NPP’s commitment to effective governance at all levels.
He indicated that the initiative will build a consensus in unity to achieve the prime objective for recapturing lost seats in the 2020 elections and maintaining the existing one.
“We recognize the importance of a strong, united party structure from the grassroots to the national level. Our vision extends beyond the upcoming elections; we aim to serve the people of Ghana with dedication, bringing about meaningful change and progress. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to the people and our desire to break the cycle of governance,” he stated.
Team work
The Communications Director, Richard Ahiagbah, reiterated the need to embrace the laid down structures of the party to have everybody on board in whatever engagement organisers and executives will undertake.
He underlined the significance of comprehensive communication skills as a tool that can be used to secure victory in 2024 election. Mr Ahiagbah urged party executives and members to recognize the critical role that effective communication strategies play in dispelling propaganda and presenting accurate information to the public.
He further mentioned the elements of successful communication, including active listening, deliberate attention to delivery, and the ability to inform and inspire audiences.
He stressed that the party’s success hinges on its ability to dominate discussions across various platforms, such as the airwaves, offices, markets, and public gatherings.
The MPs, Ministers and CEOs in the region pledged their commitment to the executives of their unflinching support to the party in the region as the party gear up to reclaiming all lost seats and maintaining existing ones.
