The National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has announced that the party is set to establish a school soon. Mr Ntim made the disclosure during a Mentorship Forum organized by the Youth Wing of the NPP at the University for Professional Studies, Accra. The forum was held under the theme “Building Leaders for Party and Country.”
He stated that the party school would be launched during the year as part of activities earmarked for the 31st Anniversary of the founding of the NPP. The NPP Chairman disclosed that a national secretariat for the party school had already been secured, and a Governing Council appointed. The Council will be chaired by the former Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Aaron Oquaye.
He further revealed that the party had also appointed Prof Bonzi Simpson, the former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), as Rector for the school.
Objectives
The NPP Chair said the party school will primarily offer leadership training to members of the party who aspire to take up leadership positions in the NPP and in Government. He also indicated that the school is expected to provide credible, cutting-edge research to promote the party’s vision of building a free and prosperous society.
Mr Ntim added that the school will be committed to identifying and grooming talents from its educational institutions like TESCON, and instill in them the kind of leadership that resonates with the 21st century. The school will also inculcate in them the core values of the center-right orientation that underpins the NPP political establishment.
